The Coffs Harbour Local Aboriginal Land Council provides cultural services, such as:
- Smoking Ceremonies
- Welcome to Country service performed by an Elder
- Women's Storytelling
One of the main functions of the land council is to make sure the culture and heritage of the aboriginal community is not
destroyed and lost forever.
For many years it was taboo for aboriginals to speak or practice their culture. Much has been lost and much is too be
regained. It is an extremely interesting and complex culture. It is the root of the real Australia.
The land councils responsibility is identifying and recording important sites and known areas where objects are located.
We are the keepers of history and knowledge and are the first point of contact in the community for advice and guidance.

Developers Beware
Anyone who has knowledge of culture or artefacts on their land should be in contact with the land council.
This especially relates to individuals and developers who's works may have a detrimental effect on the cultural.
